Course Description

Explore the basic principles of artistic floral design, the history of floral design, color coordination, design construction techniques, and floral design nomenclature. This course covers the construction of basic geometric designs, accessory usage, container selection, the proper use and maintenance of tools of the trade, and the skills necessary to select and use quality materials in design construction. Learn basic care, processing, packaging and storage of perishable and non-perishable materials used in floral design and examine the identifications, availability, grading, and characteristics of the materials. The first day of class is mandatory for attendance. Prerequisite: Introduction to Floral Design. Transcript available. Senior adult and disabled retiree course fee waivers apply.
