Course Description

This enhanced course provides a more in-depth exploration of setting and interpreting grade stakes and will provide information and instructions on controlling surface water and ground water on a job site, as well as the layout of foundations and laying of pipe. Additionally, understanding soils is an important part of becoming a successful Heavy Equipment Operator. This course will describe soil classification systems and explain how shrink and swell factors affect equipment selection as well as how soil conditions affect equipment performance. Techniques for working with various types of soils will be explained.
