Course Description

Practice skills learned in Nursing Assistant Theory. This clinical placement provides experience in a local long-term care facility under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Perfect attendance is mandatory for all clinical sessions. Topics include the application of healthcare and disease theory in the clinical setting, infection control, environmental safety, performance of patient care skills, observation, reporting, and documentation. Evidence of adequate immunizations including flu and Covid-19 and proof of a current negative TB test are required before admission to clinical. Physical requirements included the ability to lift, push, pull 50 pounds without restriction. Student should review the Nursing Assistant Training Technical standards for all requirements. Current enrollment in Nursing Assistant Theory required. Senior adult and disabled retiree tuition waivers apply. Transcript available.
