Course Description

Apply the knowledge and skill gained in dental assistant training theory and skills lab. This 40-hour, individually- scheduled, externship provides you with the opportunity for a clinical experience in a dental office with a practicing dental assistant. The clinical coordinator arranges the site, dates, and times with you. Evening and weekend placements are unavailable. Placement may take up to three months. Completion of the class can take up to six months. Prerequisites: completion of Dental Assistant Training; healthcare provider BLS CPR, proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; and a negative TB skin test or chest x-ray. Senior adult and disabled retiree course fee waivers apply. Transcript available.
