DT 1102 - Dental Assistant Training
Course Description
Interested in working in a dental office? Complete this intense training program and gain the knowledge and skill needed to work in a dental office as an entry-level dental assistant, receptionist, front office assistant, or back office assistant. Topics include dental terminology, disease transmission, disinfection and sterilization, dental anatomy, dental records and charting, instrumentation, impressions and castings, radiation health and safety, insurance and billing' and front desk responsibilities. This course also provides x-ray training that qualifies you to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Radiation Health and Safety Examination. Must be at least 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or GED required. Technical standards apply. Before registration, contact allied health at healthcaretraining@harford.edu to complete the reading (NGR) and math (NGA) assessments. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR required prior to clinical externship. All classes meet at Dental One, 3435 Box Hill Corporate Center Drive, Ste. E, Abingdon, MD 21009. Navy blue scrubs are provided and you are required to wear them to both the theory class and the externship. Textbook required and available at College Store.
