8 Courses Required
Learn the skills needed to work side-by-side with veterinarians and vet technicians. Veterinary assistants provide support in delivering a wide range of services. Harford's program is approved by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA). There are 8 required courses, which includes a 100-hour externship. Animal First Aid and CPR, and Massage Therapy for Animals are pre-requisite classes for the program. Student must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Students must also pass the Reading (NGR) and Math (NGA) Assessments. These tests are free of charge through the Test Center at HCC. Upon completion of this program, students are prepared to sit for the national certification exam administered by NAVTA.
