Course Description

Combine the study of historical events and exceptional people with a tour to expand knowledge and experiential learning. One session will be held on campus for book discussion and/or class time. During the second session the group will travel off campus to tour various locations and experience a deeper understanding of each area of study. 

Transportation is included. All meals are on your own.

Open to participants of all ages, with parent supervision as appropriate.  Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

Some tours and topics may have specific age limitations. See the section detail for specific requirements per trip.

Anne Frank book discussion and trip to the Anne Frank Experience, New York City

Optional, but highly encouraged on-campus book discussion Monday, 9/8 from 6-7pm in Joppa Hall 012

2 Books are included in trip fees. The Diary of Anne Frank, the Definitive Version, by Anne Frank, Otto M. Frank (1997) and The Betrayal of Anne Frank a Cold Case Investigation by Rosemary Sullivan (2023). Books will be available for pick up in the college store after registration in mid-August.

Trip to exhibition Wednesday, 9/10 will depart HCC campus from Lot W at 8:30am and return by 9:30pm. 

The second session will travel to tour a full-scale recreation of the complete Annex, furnished how it would have been when Anne and her family were forced into hiding. An audio guide will be provided during this hour long self-led visit. Learn more about Anne's life, her experiences and the impact of her diary. There will be time after the tour to explore the welcome center for Jewish History, where this exhibition is being hosted.

Fees include admission the exhibition and motorcoach transportation to New York City. All meals are on your own. Open to participants ages 10 years and older. Under age 18 (10 to 17 years old) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
