NR 1093 - Nursing Assistant Theory
Course Description
This Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) approved course prepares you to safely perform delegated nursing functions with clients of any age and various levels of physical, sensory, motor, and emotional ability. Topics include anatomy and physiology, growth and development, disease process, medical terminology, infection control, environmental safety, and patient care procedures. Those who successfully complete both the theory and clinical components of this program are eligible to apply for certification with the MBON and to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination which is taken at the student's expense. Near perfect attendance is mandatory for all classes and clinical. Evidence of adequate immunizations flu and Covid-19 and proof of a current negative TB skin test are required before admission to clinical. Physical requirements included the ability to lift, push, pull 50 pounds without restriction. Student should review the Nursing Assistant Training Technical Standards for all requirements. Textbooks are available at the College Store and are required for the first class.

Harford's Nursing Assistant program covers both theory and clinical components, and tuition includes Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification, fingerprinting, and MBON registration. Concurrent enrollment in Nursing Assistant Clinical required. Students must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED. The MBON requires a federal and state criminal background check prior to certification. Senior adult and disabled retiree tuition waivers apply. Transcript available.
