Course Description

This course is a combination of hands-on learning with relevant classroom work to align with the national standard as set forth by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. Students learn pre-trip operation, yard skills, and on-road skills in a progressively taught class that prepares them for the Motor Vehicle Administration Class B final exam and to earn a Class B license. Classroom instruction includes basic operation and understanding of mechanics and parts of the trucks, how the air brake system works, defensive driving, driving in foul weather, Department of Transportation regulations, hours of service, logbooks, and route planning. Senior adult and disabled retiree tuition waivers apply.
