Course Description

This course is designed to teach students how to be an effective manager or supervisor. Topics include developing your interpersonal skills, dealing with people issues at work, understanding personality traits, and developing a plan of action to improve both your interpersonal skills and your work relationships. Prerequisites: Completion of Fundamentals of Supervision and Management or equivalent experience. Explain the purposes and elements of communication. Discuss the importance of non-verbal communication. Identify the keys to running an effective meeting. Give examples of personality theories, types, and conflicts. Discuss the relationship between power, control, and influence with situational leadership.
