Course Description

 This course will be blended learning. Upon registration there will be an online portion students will be expected to complete, as well as 2 in person days. To be eligible for this course, participants must be 15 years old on or before the last session. The participant will be required to pass a pre-course test which includes treading water for two minutes without hands, a 300 yard swim and swimming 20 yards (freestyle or breaststroke), surface diving to 10 feet, retrieving a 10 pound object and swimming it back to the original starting point. CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification is part of this course. No previous CPR or First Aid is required. Successful exit requirements for this course are: attending all sessions, three water skill scenarios and achieving at least an 80% grade on the two written exams. Online textbook included with course fee. Senior adult and disabled retiree tuition waivers apply.
